Global Internship Trends

Globally, internships—especially in tech—are thriving. Cloudflare plans to hire 1,111 interns in 2026, while Shopify aims to bring on about 1,000 engineering interns this year.

 According to Indeed economist Allison Shrivastava, as of September 2025, internship postings in Software Development, IT Systems, Infrastructure, Operations, and Data Analytics accounted for 2.7% of all job listings, up from 2.2% in 2024.

 These figures highlight that internships are becoming more innovative, inclusive, and aligned with industry needs. They not only give students valuable exposure but also come with competitive pay and benefits.
